THE RAUMANGA FALLS.
Unlike the Whangarei falls, there is no viewing platform, no roaring water, no easy place to take your photographs, but in their own way, the Raumanga Falls are every bit as impressive, and very photogenic. The walk is well worth the effort, and after rain the falls are imopressive. The entrance to the track is through Raumanga Valley Park, or you can enter from the top of the track on Raumanga Heights Road. In 1921 the Raumanga Falls were being considered as a source of power for the hospital. At a concil meeting on the 15th of February, Mr Jas D. McZenzie inquired about the alternative use of the Raumanga falls. However, it was stated that the flow was not powerfull enough and would be useless for fire fighting, so the Raumanga Falls were saved to become a scenic attraction.
